DRESS CODE AND UNIFORM POLICY

Los Angeles Unified School District believes that appropriate student dress contributes to productive learning environment (Bulletin 2549).

 

East Valley High School has established a strict dress code. The standards for dress and grooming strongly emphasize to the students body that this school is a place of business with high expectations, concerned about providing and maintaining an effective learning environment that promotes student achievement.

 

Students whose clothing violates dress code guidelines will be provided a “loaner” to be returned at the end of the day. Parents/guardian will be contacted when students violate the dress code.

 

STUDENTS MAY NOT WEAR:

TOPS

T-Shirts with inappropriate writing or logos; shirts that are unnecessarily revealing (displaying cleavage or midriff); excessively baggy shirts.

BOTTOMS

Baggy, sagging or ripped pants or shorts; tights or stretch pants; excessively short skirts or shorts.

JACKETS AND OUTERWEAR

Outerwear (listed at left) with writing or logos (other than EVHS); plaid jackets, flannels or other shirts; outerwear in colors other than school colors

SHOES AND SOCKS

Slippers, flip-flops, bare feet; open-toed or high heeled shoes.

HEADWEAR

Any headwear not listed at left including (but not limited to): hats or beanies with writing or logos (other than EVHS), do-rags, bandanas, hoods.

ACCESSORIES

Any accessories that promote drugs, alcohol, or other restricted substances; any items that promote sex, violence, or gang activity (determined at the discretion of deans and/or administrators).

TARDY SWEEP POLICY

 

THE GOAL OF THIS STATEMENT IS TO INFORM STUDENTS, PARENTS AND FACULTY OF THE TARDY SWEEP POLICY FOR

 

 PROTOCOL

  1. Any student tardy to class or out of class without permission (ORANGE VEST/CLIPBOARD) will be sent to the MAIN OFFICE. The student will be given an UNEXCUSED TARDY SLIP, which will be time stamped. Afterwards, the student will be sent back to class.

  3. Teacher can direct student to Main Office if student does not return within 7 minutes from the time stamp.
  4.  
  5. Any student picked up after the tardy sweep wandering the campus without a vest or clipboard will be sent to the Main Office for a Tardy Pass.
  6.  
  7. Tardies will be accumulated by period and will be cleared each semester to incentivize improvement.Refrain from sending students in the first 1 0 or last 10 minutes of the period

CONSEQUENCES
 
  • 1st   OFFENSE: Student warned and returned to class.
  • 2nd OFFENSE: Letter home with student, lunch detention assigned. If students are late or don’t show for detention, it will be doubled. Students will be released in time to get lunch in the school cafeteria.
  • 3rd OFFENSE: Call home and AFTER SCHOOL detention
  • 4th OFFENSE: A parent conference is set, lunch detention, and campus beautification
 
POLICY
  1. THIS TARDY POLICY APPLIES FOR EVERY PERIOD EVERY DAY.
